I understand the old-school way of analyzing a coil's resonant frequencies with a current transformer and an analog volt meter to look at peaks and dips - it works to a point but a VNA can tell you so much more and it is way more precise! You don't need a $50k-100k VNA to do the job but for just a bit more than the cheapie versions on Amazon, you can have something that absolutely rivals a 6 figure VNA.
